The area of Warmia and Masuria are in fact two historic provinces, joined into one province because of their location close to each other. They are located in northern Poland, near the border with Russia and east of the lower Vistula River. Masuria is a paradise for sailors, nicknamed the Land of Thousand Lakes, though there are even more of them, in fact. Joined into several sailing routes, they offer excellent conditions not only for sailing, but also canoeing and other water sports. Once there, one can find historical sights dating back to the times of the Teutonic Knights, Prussian rule and World War II when one of Hitler’s headquarters was located there. Warmia is famous for its original architecture, which is easiest to explore in Olsztyn, Frombork, Lidzbark or Orneta.

But there is more to this region than just picturesque lakeviews. It is home for the greates battlefield of Medieval Europe - the Grunwald Plain. In the deepest forests near Kętrzyn lies what remains of Adolf Hitler's main european headquarters named Wolfenschanz. On your way across Warmian-Masurian region you will notice numerous beautiful castles and churches dating back to the medieval times. This land is by all means one of the most spectacular sightings you can have on your stay in Poland.
