I lived there for more than 7 years.
I was there this July.
I know such ridiculous things like fresh-air -fee exist but I have never paid it! I refused to stay at a hotel or a pension, which owner was trying to "incorporate" some additional charges during the price negotiation talk on the phone.
I am sorry to break it to you in such a straigforward fashion but YOU WERE RIPPED OFF.
Unfortunately it's quie a common practice among sea or mountian resort locals.
Everybody knows polish summer isn't very long and since every bussines over there, small or big, is entirely tourist dependent ---> shop, hotel or even souvenir store owners will exert their utmost to earn as much money as they can, in order to provide for themself until next tourist-season.
For all I know polish seaside isn't very popular among foreign tourists because it is expensive and the weather is, let's face it, an embarrassment.
Everyone knows that with the same money you can easily go down south where the sunny weather is a liability but still Baltic Sea remains tremendously popular among us - Poles.
You wanna know why?
It's very simple.
It's beacause of the ladies, our polish own hoochiemammas, chicanitas, mamacitas, chicks, dames and women!!! ^.^
