Polish soc-realism in India!

Have you ever heard about Polish embassy building in New Delhi, India? No? Me neither. Today I've came across a few photos of this "thing" built in 1973 according to award winning project by Witold Cęckiewicz & Stanisława Deńko. The building itself fits perfectly into the architecture of socialist-realism that we're so much used to. It's covered with metal bars and creates an inevitable industrial expression. Still it's Poland's embassy.

I've been receiving this question a lot these days. It's very easy. All you have to do is register your avatar at the universal avatar uploading site called Gravatar. You can reach it at http://en.gravatar.com/ . Make sure to upload your photo there, and you will never again wonder why your photo's not visible in the comments on Poland Point.

Polish word among the most intraslatable?

Recently, I came across a list of intranslatable words published by BBC UK. The list goes as follows:

1. Ilunga [Tshiluba word for a person who is ready to forgive any abuse for the first time; to tolerate it a second time; but never a third time. Note: Tshiluba is a Bantu language spoken in south-eastern Congo, and Zaire]
2. Shlimazl [Yiddish for a chronically unlucky person]

Crooked house topped World's strangest building list

The Crooked House a.k.a Krzywy Domek of Sopot has found itself on the top of the list of "The 50 Strange Buildings of the World"hosted by the Village of Joy site. As for its history, the Crooked House was built in year 2003. What inspired the architects were Per Dahlberg's drawings. You'll found numerous beauty shops and stores inside along with the branch office for RMF radio broadcasting company. It lies in the Bohaterów Monte Cassino street, the town's most prominent promenade.

Woman Arrested After Killing Virtual Ex-Husband

A 43-year-old Japanese woman, angry over a sudden divorce in the virtual online game Maple Story, has been arrested on suspicion of hacking into the game where she killed her once-virtual husband, authorities said.

Authorities said the Miyazaki woman illegally accessed the game with a password she hijacked from a colleague. That made it appear as if her coworker committed the online murder.
